The use of low temperatures extends the shelf life of ingredients and maintains the quality of these ingredients for use in dishes you eat everyday.
Have you ever baked a cake? If so, you know that it is really important to get the exact measurements of ingredients right. Math also plays an important role in developing recipes to make sure the right calculations are made that will make the cake taste correctly and be presented beautifully. Repeating that recipe correctly every time is another key to a successful restaurant. Therefore, it’s important to get the measurements just right and record them for others to use.
A career path in food science could lead you into working in a restaurant, enhancing food-packaging procedures, or even creating new flavors for Ben & Jerry’s ice cream!
