GREENVILLE, S.C., (February 18, 2016) — For the second straight year, Greenville-based ScanSource, Inc., a leading global provider of technology products and solutions, is the title partner of the iMAGINE Upstate program and festival. Held March 26 – April 9, 2016, the series of crowdsourced and signature events promotes a culture of lifelong learning and professional growth with an emphasis on science, technology, engineering, arts & mathematics (STEAM), innovation, and entrepreneurial activity in Upstate South Carolina.
“iMAGINE Upstate is one of the most exciting programs ScanSource supports all year,” said Greg Dixon, Chief Technology Officer at ScanSource. “The ability to engage directly with young people and let them know that jobs of the future can be extremely dynamic and rewarding is an important building block toward shaping an innovative workforce in South Carolina.”
ScanSource was recently named one of the Best Places to Work in South Carolina.
Over 14,000 people attended the inaugural iMAGINE Upstate Festival, engaging with 61 exhibitors and 16 live shows. As last year’s title partner, ScanSource headlined the title exhibition and showcased the latest technology innovations they deliver to customers around the world. The “ScanSource Experience” was packed with a variety of custom-designed high-tech games using scanners, 3D printers, green-screen technology and more.
“We are thrilled to have ScanSource back as our title partner, as they help us continue to grow the program,” exclaimed iMAGINE Upstate Event Director Melissa Huff. “ScanSource fully embraces our student-focused mission and has a tremendous influence getting other partners engaged to help showcase the many STEAM-related careers available in the Upstate.”
The 2016 iMAGINE Upstate program will kickoff March 26, 2016 with two weeks of crowdsourced programs for all ages. The “main event” will be the festival on Saturday, April 2. The free festival will be held in the West End of downtown Greenville running from South Main Street to Markley Street, including Fluor Field. The street will be lined with tented STEAM-centered experiences for students of all ages and feature six stages. Tentative stage programming includes a maker-space, robotics battle, live science demonstration and a drone flight experience.
