Learning how things work has always been a passion of mine. Ever since I can remember I have had a desire to take things apart to see what I can learn. I remember when I got my first computer in the late 90s. Although I had paid a great deal for it, when I brought it home I had to first disassemble it to the very last screw! It was with very sweaty hands that I put all the pieces back together again. Amazed that it worked, a PC enthusiast was born.
In college I thought I wanted to be a minister or an artist. Upon graduating, I sought for a job to pay for my student loans. An opportunity came to me: I knew computers and I was fluent in Spanish, and ScanSource was a growing technology company that had spread into South America. In my favor, training for this work was done on the job! Without experience in automation and barcode symbology, I did not hesitate to come on board. I will say that training at ScanSource was much like skydiving. When you jump out onto the vast sky of auto ID technology it all comes at you fast and overwhelming. Once I got the hang of it, it was exhilarating and I wanted more.
At ScanSource we don’t make anything or innovate new technology. What we do is to find the best technology in order to sell the suitable solution. Our solution solves problems for many industries like retail inventory, warehouse logistics, patent identification, network infrastructure, and telephony needs. Therefore in the technical services, my role is to learn about the leading edge technology and to be an expert on the products we sell. The sales department depends on us to help them build complex automation solutions that customers are looking for.
What makes us successful at ScanSource is our commitment to the customer that far outlasts the initial sale. I enjoy using my natural bend toward understanding how things work and using that to help customers find solutions for their needs. It is very fulfilling.
